The History of Boeucc Milano – Since 1696
Since 1696, Boeucc Milano has been a symbol of Milanese culinary tradition. A historic restaurant that has spanned centuries, offering elegance, quality, and authenticity in the heart of the city.
In 2025, the Ancient Restaurant Boeucc returns to its origins, moving to Corso Monforte 16, just a few steps from where this historic establishment was born 329 years ago. The name “Boeucc” (meaning “small hole” in Milanese dialect) dates back to 1696, when it was founded as a small tavern between Via Durini and Via Borgogna. Over the years, it became a favorite of many distinguished figures, including Giuseppe Mazzini and, in more recent times, Arturo Toscanini, who lived just a few meters away on Via Durini. Writer Guido Piovene was a frequent guest, and conductor Lorin Maazel, captivated by the flavors, once arrived late to conduct Falstaff. Even the Five Days of Milan revolts had ties to the Boeucc tavern. The restaurant also hosted the headquarters of Ambrosiana Inter, the club from which both AC Milan and FC Internazionale were born. In 1939, Boeucc moved to Palazzo Belgioioso, between Piazza della Scala and San Babila, in what were once the stables of Count Belgioioso. Today, Boeucc remains one of Milan’s most iconic venues, beloved by the worlds of high finance and fashion. |
